I actually stumbled upon the place I took photos
of for my Sense of Place assignment when I was
on my way to the event I took photos of
in Fernandina Beach.
I saw this abandoned Indian River Fruit building and fell
in love with the ambience of it. Just by looking
at this photo, I think it shows the years of lack of TLC by the
the over grown bushes and the chipping paint.
I think that this photo shows how time has taken its
toll on this building, with the lack of color and sense of lifelessness.
Although there are chains on the doors to keep them shut,
they remain partially open, showing that even time and lack of money
can't keep away life and spirit.
I couldn't help but find this location interesting because on one side of this building there was an abandoned gas station and on the other side, an abandoned service station. I know that in and of itself doesn't seem interesting, but what is, is that across the street there were three or four gas stations, fast food restaurants, and a fruit stand. It's funny to me how much time can take it's toll on things and yet other things prosper with time.

So how exactly did you get to this Indian River Fruit store? Love the photos of the building!!
