People On The Street

This assignment was sort of difficult in the sense that Mon after class it was raining and Tues it was a nasty day out as well. So when I went out, there weren't that many people. But here are my best three!

John Linton, age 47 lives in St. Augustine and works
for the Checker Cab company. He's standing here, killing
some time, reading a book while waiting on a call to pick
someone up who needs a ride.

Stacy, 36, and Rush are enjoying their vacation from
North Carolina with their family. Stacy was trying to be nice
and walk Rush on the grass, but he wasn't very happy with
that and wanted to be on the sidewalk with his family.

Virginia, age 3 is the daughter of Stacy, also visiting from
North Carolina. Here she is playing with her sister
in the gazebo which she kept calling a "stage." She really
enjoyed going up there and playing with her sister and
occasionally posing for photos for her mom.

This is an extra, not so good photo of their entire family.
They were very nice to allow us to take photos of them, and
I even helped them out by taking a couple of different family
photos for memorabilia of their trip to St. Augustine.

Sense Of Place

I actually stumbled upon the place I took photos
of for my Sense of Place assignment when I was
on my way to the event I took photos of
in Fernandina Beach.

I saw this abandoned Indian River Fruit building and fell
in love with the ambience of it. Just by looking
at this photo, I think it shows the years of lack of TLC by the
the over grown bushes and the chipping paint.

I think that this photo shows how time has taken its
toll on this building, with the lack of color and sense of lifelessness.

Although there are chains on the doors to keep them shut,
they remain partially open, showing that even time and lack of money
can't keep away life and spirit.

I couldn't help but find this location interesting because on one side of this building there was an abandoned gas station and on the other side, an abandoned service station. I know that in and of itself doesn't seem interesting, but what is, is that across the street there were three or four gas stations, fast food restaurants, and a fruit stand. It's funny to me how much time can take it's toll on things and yet other things prosper with time.

Event-Fort Clinch Commemoration

Commemoration-1
Wayne Vaughn, 73 is retired, and is originally from
Jacksonville, Fla. Vaughn, has been a "living historian"
for 20 years, and travels across the southeast for different
war reenactments. Here, Vaughn is watching his fellow
soldiers fire off a cannon.

Commemoration-2

Lee Bledsoe, is 64-years-old, is retired, and currently
resides in Fernandina Beach, Fla. when not traveling for reenactments.
Here Bledsoe is showing a group of people what a bayonet is.

Commemoration-3

Mark Godby is a 69-year-old retiree, who lives in
Jacksonville, Fla. is demonstrating how to use a Gatling Gun.
Which has six barrels, 50 caliber, and holds 20 rounds per
magazine.

For Fun: Commemoration-4

I really liked this photo and I thought it was something
that I needed to post just because I think it really gives a
presence of the fort.

Vantage Point--Hard to Choose!

This was a tree outside of the Library, that started off
as 2 trees but ended up combining into one. I stuck my camera
in the middle of the 2 and this is what I got.

I got down on the ground for this one.
I just though this was an interesting POV for a bike.

This one, I also got on the ground for. But I liked
how the red on the bike tire outlined the yellow bike.

I didn't even know how this one was going to turn out.
I put my camera on the ground and just took some pictures.
But I really liked this one!
